Pamela Hughes
Pamela Hughes, originally from Boston, MA, previously lived in Hartford and Stamford, CT, before settling in the Mt. Hope neighborhood in 1979. She has been a dedicated member of the Mt. Hope Community Center Board of Directors for many years.
Beyond her community involvement, Pam serves as the Chapter President of the Providence Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is also the Vice President of both the Juneteenth RI Committee and the National Pan-Hellenic Council of RI. Additionally, she is the Immediate Past President of the Mt. Hope Cowboys Youth Football & Cheerleading Organization, a former Secretary of the Ocean State Pop Warner Board of Directors, former Vice Chairperson of the Providence Juvenile Hearing Board, and a former member of the Ward 3 Democratic Committee.
Since 2000, Pam has worked as a Parole Officer for the State of Rhode Island, Department of Corrections, Adult Probation and Parole. Her previous experience includes serving as a Paralegal/Prosecution Liaison in the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit and as a Victim Witness Assistant in the District Court Unit for the RI Office of the Attorney General. She also worked as a Court Advocate for Sojourner House.
A celebrated athlete, Pam is a member of the RI Interscholastic League Hall of Fame and the Hope High School Hall of Fame. She also holds the Rhode Island state record for the girls' high school indoor and outdoor long jump.
Above all, Pam is a devoted mother to her two daughters, Charrise and Destiny. She is passionate about mentoring youth and young adults in her community, helping to shape the next generation of leaders.
