Helen Baskerville-Dukes

A proud native of Providence, Rhode Island, Helen Baskerville-Dukes is a dedicated community leader with a passion for empowerment and equity. A graduate of Katherine Gibbs College, she currently serves as the Executive Director of the Mount Hope Community Center, one of Rhode Island’s oldest Black organizations. Under her leadership, the center continues its powerful legacy of fostering self-sustainability and economic empowerment for residents in this historic community. Helen has spearheaded transformative programs that promote financial freedom, health equity, and a deeper sense of self-worth, ensuring that individuals and families have the resources they need to thrive.

In addition to her work at Mount Hope, Helen serves as the Board Chair of the Juneteenth RI Committee, bringing over 20 years of experience in community advocacy, education, and equity. With her extensive skills in event planning, she has played a pivotal role in expanding Rhode Island’s Juneteenth celebration, growing attendance from just a few hundred participants to over 6,000 in just four years.

Helen resides in Providence with her husband, Tyrone, and their daughter. She remains deeply committed to creating lasting change, strengthening her community, and inspiring future generations.
