What’s been going on since I’ve been here?

Helen Baskerville-Dukes

Executive Director

On May 12, 2021 social media received the notification of my appointment as Executive Director (ED) here at the Mount Hope Community Center (MHCC), formerly the Mount Hope Neighborhood Association. The community has welcomed me with open arms and the outpouring of support is undeniably gratifying.

Directly in the middle of COVID-19, I jumped in and continued the great work that our former interim ED, Eugene Monteiro, was doing. From packing and delivering food to the most vulnerable, establishing our center as a COVID testing and popup vaccination site, WIC services and tax preparation, we kept our doors open to ensure our Mount Hope residents and surrounding communities would be served.

Now that we’ve finally emerged from this pandemic and regained some sort of normalcy, we are ready to offer programs and services that produce change.

Community Health Worker!

Yenny Jaquez

CHW

If you’ve visited the Center looking for resources, COVID testing/supplies or to volunteer, then you’ve met Yenny our Community Health Worker (CHW). She’s been right here with me from the beginning catering to the needs of Mount Hope and surrounding communities. As we continue to build a solid rapport with our residents and clients, Yenny is eager to serve.

What's new at the Center?

Nashua Carter

Athletic Director

We are excited to welcome Nashua “Nash” to team MHCC. Since he came aboard we have had a successful Billy Taylor Summer Basketball League with over 50 middle and high schoolers participating. What a great feat seeing that he joined us just two weeks before the league began.  Having a professional sports background will compliment our aggressive sports & recreation agenda we have planned throughout the year.

We've begun our Volleyball camp and it is going exceptionally well with over 25 participants semiweekly. We have two volleyball coaches with over 20 years of experience. There's a lot more instore so stay tuned!  Check out our program calendar  at mhccri.org beginning January 1, 2023.

WIC Is here!

Gloria Price

Nutritionist

Gloria joined the Mount Hope team in 2017, promoting the WIC (Women, Infant & Children) program through community events, connecting with area businesses and helping distribute items from the Project Undercover Program.

Bringing nearly 25 years of experience working for the WIC Program, she is ready to welcome and certify Pregnant Women, Breastfeeding Women, New Moms, and children under five years old.

Our WIC is the best. The care and love WIC provides to every client that walks through our doors goes without saying.
